Miscellaneous
In this section we have dressage whips and jumping whips.
The dressage whip can measure up to 43 inches, including lash, they are used to refine the aids of the rider and not to hurt the horse. They are usually used to ask for more impulsion and are long enough to reach behind the riders legs without letting go of the reins.
The Jumping whip is a short whip, also known as a bat, is usually 2 to 2.5 feet in length, with a popper or a flap of leather. It is too short to hit the horse whilst holding the reins so the reins must be put in one hand to use the crop. It is used to get the horse listening to your aids and and maybe used as a disciplinary measure, such as a horse refusing or running out of a jump.
