The weymouth bit is used in conjunction with a bradoon for a more refined feel. It is mostly used for flat work. You have two pairs of reins, one attached to the curb bit and the other to the bradoon. Each rein has a different action on the horse mouth, the bradoon works exactly like the snaffle bit , and the curb has a lever action which applies pressure on the chin groove, poll and lips. The curb should be used with a lip strap to keep it in place and the weymouth bit should only be used with a cavesson noseband
