Roller & Waterford Snaffle Bits
The loose ring has much more movement and play than a fixed ring or
cheek. It discourages fixing, blocking, and leaning on the bit. It also
helps to encourage mouthing. The loose ring allows more movement so that
it follows the angle of the tongue, this is vital because as the
horse's overall outline changes it allows the bit to follow.
The eggbutt is a fixed cheek bit, they are ideal for horse who are a bit unsure of the bit as they don't move a lot in the mouth, encouraging the horse to take the contact. It wouldn't suit the horse that tends to lean on the bit or snatch the bit.
WATERFORD - has a chain type mouthpiece which has ball shaped links joined together. the bit is floppy and there fore perfect for horses that grab or lean on the bit. When the horse tries to grab the bit the bit 'collapses'. The bit has several links allowing the pressure to be spread over the tongue, and has no nut cracker action.
COPPER ROLLER - helps encourage relaxation. The bit has small rollers along the mouth piece, which spin when pushed by the horses tongue. This helps prevent the horse leaning, grabbing and getting the tongue over the bit.
CHERRY ROLLER - is a bit which suits larger horses with big mouths. They help with horses that attempt to put their tongue over, or take hold of the bit between their teeth. It can also help with horses that lean as the rollers encourage the bit to roll further into the horses mouth.
MAGENIS - has small copper rollers set within the mouthpiece, they are designed to roll over the jaw to help prevent the horse crossing/setting its jaw. The copper in the rollers will help encourage salivation.
