Dexter Ring Bit

The Dexter Ring Bit is usually used on race horses. It has a single jointed mouth piece which provides a 'nutcracker action' to the horse's tongue and bars when pressure is applied, plus a large, slim metal ring which goes through the horse's mouth and around his chin.
This prevents the horse from being able to take a strong hold on the bit and provides the jockey with extra brakes and steering. The half spoon option has a half cheek below the snaffle ring for extra help with steering.
This bit is a strong bit, used mostly in racing and should not be used by an inexperienced rider or handler.
